On October 25, the price of PVC in North China was 8,100 yuan/ton, which was 14.9% higher than that of 7,050 yuan/ton in early August. Experts believe that the main reason for the increase in PVC prices is the shortage of calcium carbide in the upstream and raw material costs have soared.
Since the tight supply of the calcium carbide market is difficult to change in the short term, the high price of calcium carbide is difficult to shake. Affected by factors such as high calcium carbide prices and tight purchases, the start-up of PVC production companies has been affected to some extent. At the same time, due to the lack of inventory, PVC manufacturers also intend to control the delivery pace, which caused tight supply of goods in the PVC market. Looking ahead, it is more difficult for PVC prices to rise further. The operating rate of downstream PVC product companies is not high, and due to the difficulty of cost shifting, the current high prices are unbearable, thus reducing the purchase of PVC. Analysts believe that the PVC market in the fourth quarter, intertwined with long and short factors, although the upside is limited, but the high cost of a strong support for the price of PVC, the high consolidation pattern is not easy to break.
Compared to PVC, caustic soda market situation is better. Recently, the caustic soda market has broken the previous sluggish trend. The domestic 32% ion-exchange membrane caustic soda is offered at a price of 500 to 700 yuan/ton. 99% of the protopine is quoted at a price of 2200 to 2600 yuan/ton. High-end quotes are frequent, and some regions even have Rose to 2800 yuan / ton.
The increase in the price of caustic soda is mainly due to the reduced supply and stable demand. Caustic soda is a high-energy-consuming product. During the production process, it consumes more power and is affected by the increase in energy-saving and emission-reducing efforts. Several major production regions such as Northwest China and East China are limited by limited power production and low operating rate. Price increase.
