Recently, the largest wind power project in the Poyang Lake Region - Laoyeiao Wind Power Project was officially started construction. The reporter learned that this project is the fourth wind power project developed by the province in the “Eleventh Five-Year Plan†and is the largest wind power project in the province. According to reports, the Laoyeiao Wind Power Project is located in Duobao Township, Duchang County, Jiangxi Province. It borders Poyang Lake, and faces the Xingzi County across the lake. It is planned to install 33 wind turbines with unit capacity of 1500 KW. The estimated annual power generation capacity is 102 million kWh, and the total investment of the project is about RMB 500 million.
At present, the construction company's Jiangxi Provincial Department of Hydropower Engineering is constructing with high requirements and high standards. It is expected that it will be fully operational by the end of November 2011. It will provide clean power to 85,000 households each year, compared with coal-fired power plants of the same size. In comparison, annual savings of 36,000 tons of standard coal can be achieved, and corresponding reductions in emissions of various harmful gases and waste gases: 9.5 tons of carbon monoxide, 111,000 tons of carbon dioxide, 533 tons of sulfur dioxide, 326 tons of nitrogen oxides, and 363 tons of dust.
