Michelin builds light truck tire factory in Mexico

According to a recent report from France, Michelin is already advancing its plans for a new tire factory in Mexico. It is committed to investing US$510 million, which will take more than two years to establish a new car light truck tire manufacturing plant in Guanatona, Mexico. This also made Michelin's official confirmation of the Michelin project in Mexico, which began in April.

The construction area of ​​the plant is approximately 142,000 square meters, and construction will start in the second half of this year. It is expected that the tire production will begin in the fourth quarter of 2018. The output is expected to reach 400-500 million/year. As for the number of expected employment opportunities that can be provided, Michelin did not disclose it.

A Reuters news agency also reported that Michelin plans to establish a US$510 million tire factory in Mexico. The city where the tire factory is located has 1.2 million inhabitants and is very close to their sales market. The factory is only about 3 hours drive from Mexico's 18 largest automaker factories.

Michelin said that with the rapid growth of the Mexican automotive market and the confidence that the world’s largest automaker has chosen to cooperate with Michelin, Michelin has decided to establish this new factory. The new plant will help Michelin continue to expand its North American market and gain a leading edge. The plant is the 21st factory in North America and the 69th factory in the world (including the Queretaro factory, which has been operating since 1987). In addition to Michelin, Goodyear announced in April last year that it intends to invest up to 550 million U.S. dollars to build a car light truck tire manufacturing plant near San Luis Potosí in Mexico.
