The strong magnetic separator is the main equipment for selecting weak magnetic iron minerals. According to the selected medium, it can be divided into dry and wet types.
Dry-type strong magnetic separators need to be dried, have small processing capacity, high power consumption and must be dust-proof. They are not widely used in ore dressing production. The flat ring wet type strong magnetic separator has better performance, large processing capacity, stable production, good sorting effect, and is widely used at present.
(1) Flat-ring wet magnetic separator The flat-ring strong magnetic separator that appeared earlier in the world is a Jones-type strong magnetic separator. The machine was first developed in the UK. It was built by the German Humboldt Company in the late 1960s. In 1972, it was firstly used for industrial application at the Kaoyi Concentrator of Brazil's Dorsey River Co., Ltd., with a total of 26 DP317 models and a production capacity of 100 tons. The ore of the plant contains 50% iron. After washing, it is sent to the wet magnetic separator to select 66% iron concentrate. The recovery rate is 95%. Currently the machine is in Brazil, Liberia, Canada, Sweden. It is promoted and used in countries such as Spain, the United States and Finland. In China, the 1968 conference by the Ministry of Machine-processing equipment and Metallurgy Ministry, held in Anshan, it was decided to develop sorting weakly magnetic iron minerals strong magnetic separator. 1973, Anshan Iron and Steel Institute of Mining and Shenyang Mining Machinery factory, etc. The unit has jointly developed a Ñ„800mm single-layer flat-ring wet-type strong magnetic separator, and carried out a semi-industrial test for the selection of Qi Dashan ore. The results prove that the strong magnetic machine is effective as the thick and sweeping of the red-magnetite. On this basis, Shenyang Mining Machinery Factory developed the Ñ„2000mm double flat ring wet magnetic separator (CHDE-20 type strong magnetic separator), and carried out the industrial test of the Qi Dashan ore. Under rough selection conditions, when the ore grade is 20%, the concentrate grade can exceed 35%, the tailings yield can be discarded by 50%, and the tailings grade is about 9%. The equipment was intended to be a strong magnetic separation device in the weak magnetic-strong magnetic-acid flotation process of the flotation plant of Qidashan Concentrator.
Based on the development of the CHDE-20 strong magnetic separator, Jilin Metallurgical Electromechanical Equipment Factory has developed the SHP series of strong magnetic separators. The machine is based on the original flat ring wet magnetic separator structure. The cooling method was changed from the original air-cooled type to the oil-cooled type. In 1984, the process of the Qidashan first-choice workshop was changed to the heavy-magnetic-floating process, and the SHP-2000 strong magnetic separator was adopted, a total of 9 units, which are currently in good production. SHP -3200 double flat ring wet type strong magnetic separator is now used in the second selection workshop of Donganshan, Anshan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd.
A Jones type strong magnetic field magnetic separator The Jones type strong magnetic field magnetic separator has become the main type of practical application and series production in foreign countries. At present, the largest Jones magnetic separator is manufactured by the Humboldt plant of West Germany KHD, with a processing capacity of 100-120t/h, a size of 6300×4005×4250mm, and a turntable diameter of 3170mm~3370mm.

The structure of the Jones Strong Magnetic Separator is shown in Figure 1. It has a steel portal frame with two U-shaped yokes on the frame. The horizontal part of the yoke is covered with an excitation coil. The coil is air-cooled by 8 fans and has a protective shell on the outside. The vertical central axis drives two sorting turntables, and a closed magnetic circuit is formed between the magnetic poles through the turntable, and the turntable functions as a core. The sorting box is directly fixed to the periphery of the turntable. Therefore, there is only one air gap between the sorting box and the pole, which reduces the air gap compared with the magnetic separator which generally has inner and outer poles. That is, the magnetic reluctance of the air is reduced, which is advantageous for increasing the strength of the magnetic field. [next]
The sorting process of the magnetic separator is as follows:
The feed point of the magnetic separator is located at the inlet of the magnetic field. With the rotation of the sorting box, the slurry is fed into the sorting box after entering the sorting box, and then enters the magnetic field. In order to avoid the splash of the slurry during the sorting process, the magnetic separator has a coal mine. Under the action of the magnetic field, the slurry passes through the gap of the tooth plate installed in the sorting box, and the non-magnetic mineral flows into the lower product receiving groove to become the tailings. The magnetic mineral is adsorbed on the tooth plate and moves with the sorting box in the magnetic field. Before leaving the magnetic field (the turntable rotates about 60°), a medium mine flushing device is used to clean the magnetic mineral adsorbed on the tooth plate with pressurized water, moving it from the upper part of the gap to the lower part of the gap, and the non-inclusion The magnetic mineral is washed down and becomes a medium mine, entering the medium mine receiving tank. There are two intermediate mine cleaning points for each turntable. After cleaning, the content of magnetic minerals is further improved. When the sorting box is separated from the magnetic field and transferred to the magnetic neutral zone, the concentrate flushing device is provided, and the magnetic mineral adsorbed on the tooth plate is washed with pressurized water. Since the polarity of the two ends of the disk between the magnetic fields is opposite, at the inlet of the magnetic pole range, the sorting box starts to have a very high magnetization, and at the exit, it quickly drops down and goes to The position perpendicular to the center line of the magnetic pole, that is, the neutral region of the magnetic field, the magnetic field of the sorting box is theoretically zero, and then magnetized in the opposite direction, and a very high magnetization is regained at the entrance of the opposite magnetic pole region. Due to this inversion of the magnetic lines of force, a certain demagnetization effect on the sorting box, and discharge in the magnetic neutral zone, washing with high-pressure water, etc., have a positive effect on washing the magnetic minerals and reducing the blockage of the medium.

B Domestic flat ring type strong magnetic separator The equipment structure and selection process of the domestic flat ring type strong magnetic separator are basically similar to the Jones strong magnetic separator described above. (2) High Gradient Magnetic Separator A Sala High Gradient Wet Magnetic Separator Sara High Gradient Wet Magnetic Separator is designed and manufactured according to large batch high gradient magnetic separator and 1~20t /h Continuous operation of the high gradient magnetic separator was successfully manufactured by the Swedish company Sarah in early 1978. Its structure is shown in Figure 3.

The magnets of the Sarah Ring Magnetic Separator are developed from the high-gradient magnetic separator of the high-gradient magnetic separator. In order to produce a uniform magnetic field in the ring magnetic separator, the magnet consists of two separate saddle-type coils that rotate the ring containing the medium through the coil. The shovel circuit frame surrounds the solenoid electromagnet and acts as a magnetic pole, and also limits the fringing magnetic field and stray magnetic field outside the working space around the two coils, and wraps the swivel in the magnet coil. The space between the upper and lower armored iron plates is called the gap. The general strong magnetic separators are designed to give the direction of the ore slurry perpendicular to the direction of the magnetic field. In the Sarah magnetic machine, the slurry is fed parallel to the magnetic field orientation. For a conventional yoke magnetic separator, the processing power is proportional to the magnetic pole gap, which is different from the case of the Sarah high gradient magnetic separator in which the pole pitch remains unchanged. Due to this design difference, the Sarah Ring Magnetic Separator can be easily scaled up to achieve a large processing power.
An iron ore concentrator in Sweden installed a continuously operating high gradient magnetic separator. The ore grade is 27%, in addition to hematite, it also contains 1 to 7% of magnetite. After the weak magnetic separator is selected, the magnetite content is reduced to 1%, and then the high gradient magnetic separation is given. Machine, magnetic field strength of 1830kA / m, after 48h test run and 4 months of formal operation test, iron concentrate grade reached 62 ~ 64%, iron recovery rate reached 84%.
The device has a good separation effect on fine-grained products. For example, in a certain plant, the miner below 30μm is selected. When the ore grade contains 45% iron, the magnetic field strength of the magnetic separator is 2069kA/m, and the refined grade is 60-67.4%. The rate is 63-71%. The Sarah strong magnetic separator has been tested in the Dashan Red Mine and has achieved good indicators.
B GTC-1 High Gradient Magnetic Separator In many research institutes in China, the research of high gradient magnetic separator has been carried out, and gratifying results have been achieved. Changsha Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, Anshan Iron and Steel Research Institute developed GTC-1 type Ñ„2000mm monopolar head high gradient magnetic hunger, and completed the strong magnetic separation test of Qidashan poor hematite or Donganshan poor hematite ore. The high gradient magnetic field generated by the extremely small rectangular wire, when the ratio of the magnetic medium size to the particle size of the recovered material, is not less than the circular medium, which is sufficient to separate the weak magnetic iron mineral with fine crystal grain size.
This new type of magnetic sorting equipment is used in foreign countries for the removal of iron and sewage from non-metallic materials. The background magnetic field strength is 716kA/m, the sorting ring speed is 1.3~1.5r/min, and the combination of medium mesh is not. Make adjustments.
