The National Automobile Market Price Trend Survey in June 2012

On July 14, the reporter learned from the price monitoring center of the National Development and Reform Commission that through the monitoring of 36 large and medium-sized cities throughout the country, the national automobile market prices continued to decline slightly in June, and the prices of domestic cars and imported cars continued to decline.

The National Development and Reform Commission stated that the price of domestically produced cars was mainly reduced. In June, domestic auto prices fell by 0.08% from the previous month, a decrease of 1.22% over the same period of last year, and the prices of passenger cars and commercial vehicles declined slightly in varying degrees.

Among them, passenger car prices fell by 0.10% compared with the previous period and decreased by 1.90% year-on-year. In the subdivided models, the prices of sports passenger cars and minibuses decreased by 0.14% and 1.24% respectively from the previous month, and were down 3.05% and 2.68% respectively from the same period of last year. The price of basic passenger cars rose by 0.48% from the previous month and decreased by 0.16% year-on-year.

However, the price of commercial vehicles dropped slightly and fell 0.05% month-on-month, which was a 0.50% decrease from the same period last year. Among them, the price of commercial buses dropped by 0.04% month-on-month, down 1.24% from the same period of last year. In the subdivision models, the price of light buses dropped by 0.34% month-on-month and 0.08% year-on-year. The price of large passenger cars slightly increased by 0.06% qoq and decreased by 1.71% year-on-year; the price of commercial trucks decreased by 0.12% compared with the previous period and rose by 0.48% compared with the same period of last year. The prices of medium- and heavy-duty trucks fell by 0.30% and 0.11% respectively in the subdivided models. The year-on-year increase was -0.90% and 0.96% respectively. The price of light trucks rose 0.15% and 2.14% year-on-year, respectively.

In addition, the National Development and Reform Commission also stated that the price of imported cars has been falling for two consecutive months. In June, the price of imported automobiles fell by 0.56% compared with the previous period, which was a 2.55% decrease from the same period of last year. Among them, the price of imported cars dropped by 0.42% and 5.0% year-on-year, respectively, and the prices of imported SUVs decreased by 0.70% and 0.04% year-on-year respectively.

In an interview with the reporter, Cheng Xiaodong, chief analyst of the Price Monitoring Center of the National Development and Reform Commission, said in an interview with reporters that from the perspective of market monitoring, the auto market continued to slump last year and the contradiction between supply and demand continued to increase. Since the second quarter, many manufacturers have made auto products. The adjustment of price cuts stimulated the release of some demand to a certain extent, but it did not effectively alleviate the situation of oversupply in the market. It is expected that the late dealers will further increase the price reduction promotion under the influence of factors such as weak demand and rising inventory pressure, and automobile prices will continue to decline steadily under this influence.
