In developed countries such as Europe and the United States, it has become a common practice to install truck-assisted brake systems on trucks, such as engine brakes and retarder devices, to effectively solve the problems. According to the mature experience of foreign trucks, the most effective solution is to install slower truck brakes. Speed ​​device. Based on this, the requirements of the brake system for vehicles set out in the new standard for the “Regulations for the Operational Safety of Motor Vehicles” GB 7258 are proposed: trucks and dangerous goods transport vehicles with more than 12 tons will be forced to install retarders or other auxiliary brake devices. This is the sign that domestic truck brakes are gradually maturing.

In response, Dr. Liu Zenggang mentioned that in the requirements of IIA test of GB12676 regulations, it was proposed that truck brakes have the following provisions: When a full-load truck is on a 6% downhill slope, the vehicle's main brake device must not be used, but only the auxiliary brake is used. In the system, the truck should be able to descend at a steady speed of 30 km/h for a duration of 12 minutes. For the 40-ton vehicle, in the IIA test of the GB12676 regulations, 196 kilowatts of power braking are required to safely descend the slope. At present, only the eddy current retarder can complete this experiment independently.

On the problem of brake overheating, the eddy current retarder uses electromagnetism to convert the kinetic energy of the car into heat energy to dissipate it, thereby realizing a device for deceleration and braking. The maximum braking torque is 3300NM. For the output speed point, the maximum torque can be reached at 30km/h, and the effective speed point is 10km/h. That is, when the vehicle speed reaches 10km/h, the retarder can play a system of more than 85%. The action has greatly solved the problem of brake overheating and ensured the safety of the vehicle.
