For the 40-ton vehicle, in the IIA test of the GB12676 regulations, 196 kilowatts of power braking are required to safely descend the slope. At present, only the eddy current retarder can complete this experiment independently.

On the problem of brake overheating, the eddy current retarder uses electromagnetism to convert the kinetic energy of the car into heat energy to dissipate it, thereby realizing a device for deceleration and braking. The maximum braking torque is 3300NM. For the output speed point, the maximum torque can be reached at 30km/h, and the effective speed point is 10km/h.
