Pirelli: The first Mexican plant is inaugurated
Pirelli Tire recently opened a new factory in Silao, Mexico, the first plant in Mexico and the 22nd factory in the world.
The new plant in Mexico will mainly produce performance tires for high-end passenger vehicle tires. By the end of this year, the tire production capacity of the plant will reach 400,000, which will increase to 3.5 million in 2015 and increase to 5.5 million in 2017.
Pirelli will invest nearly US$300 million in production expansion by 2015 and invest US$100 million in further expansion from 2015 to 2017. The number of employees in the new factory will reach 1,000 next year, and the number of employees when the factory reaches full production will increase to 1,800.
Pirelli Tire said that the opening of a new plant in Mexico is an important step in its international development strategy. The new plant can not only meet the needs of the local Mexican market, but also serve the entire North American Free Trade Union region.
