Michelin tires are designing and developing a new trailer-specific tire, the Michelin X One MaxiTrailer. The tire re-engravable tread pattern, which can increase tire mileage, grip and load capacity by 50% compared to conventional designs. At the same time, the tire is also the first trailer-specific tire developed by Michelin using wear-resistant technology. In the second half of 2006, Michelin invested $512.7 million (400 million euros) to develop new truck tires using wear-resistant technology, hoping to use XDN 2 GRIP technology to enhance tire safety, extend tire life and increase tire sales. By 2011, 4 million retreaded tires will be produced each year using wear-resistant technology.
