Recognize the flat ratio of automotive tires
The flat ratio refers to the ratio of the height from the rim to the tread to the maximum width of the tire's cross-section measurement, expressed as a percentage, that is, the height as a percentage of the width. Take 205/60R15 tires as an example, the maximum width of the cross section is 205 mm, the inner diameter of the tire is 15 inches, and the flat ratio is 60.
In general, the current domestic cars use more tires with small width, small inner diameter and high flatness ratio. High-profile tires have a relatively long sidewall and strong cushioning capacity and are relatively comfortable, but they have poor road feeling and weak lateral resistance during cornering. On the other hand, tires with a low flat ratio and a large inner diameter have a short sidewall and a wide tread. Therefore, the grounded area is large, the pressure to which the tires can withstand is also large, the reaction to the road surface is very sensitive, and the lateral resistance during cornering is strong, so that the handling of the vehicle is greatly enhanced.
