European R&D team successfully developed a new type of rapid soil contamination detection device

[China Instrument Network Instrument Research and Development] Soil pollution, water pollution, and air pollution are both the focus of environmental pollution prevention work, and soil pollution is more difficult to control because of its unique concealment and lag. In Europe, its developed industrial industry has caused widespread soil pollution. The sources of pollution include heavy metals and persistent organic compounds, which seriously affect the ecological environment and human health.

Recently, the European SOIMON R&D team, funded by the European Union's Seventh R&D Framework Program (FP7), has developed a new type of rapid soil contamination inspection device that can detect soil contamination conditions more quickly and at low cost.

It is reported that the R&D team is composed of seven innovative small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in six member states of the European Union (Croatias), the United Kingdom (former EU member states), the Netherlands, Denmark, Greece, and Tunisia.

The device consists of various types of detectors and sensors. It uses radiation detection and sensing technology to effectively detect and analyze the heavy metal pollution in soil, volatile organic compounds of harmful compounds, and achieve on-site sampling, on-site analysis and results. In addition, the R&D team integrates the detectors and sensors into the sonic vibration drill pipe, and increases the vibration damping system to reduce the interference of the vibration to the electronic sensing device and improve the detection accuracy.

The device has the advantages of low cost, high speed and high efficiency and has been evaluated and appraised by the European Commission's independent peer expert group.
