Parametric Design Application Based on Solidworks Thread Pair

Thread machining is the most common machining process in the factory. Thread pairing is also the most common structure in the processing drawing. Engineers need to repeatedly search for and draw thread patterns when designing drawing processing patterns, which greatly slows down the design speed. . Hole Wizard It is a kind of tool that solidworks software designs for each kind of processing hole, it can carry on the parametric design to each kind of hole and draws the detailed drawing, has saved the precious time for the engineering technician.
1.1 First draw a flat plate to prepare for the parametric design of the next tapped hole.
1.2 Using the Hole Wizard Tool in Solidworks to Drill the Plate

(1) Draw a positioning sketch on the plane to be drilled to facilitate positioning during drilling

(2) Click Icon, after selecting the type and size to be drilled, place the tapped hole according to the positioning sketch.
We chose to drill the threaded hole of the M10 with a hole depth of 20 and a thread depth of 15. as the picture shows

Observing Figure 2 we can see clearly that in the 3D design, the hole drilled by the special hole guide tool can clearly show the large diameter and small diameter of the thread in the 2D map, which is in full compliance with our country's drawing standards.
2. Parametric Design of Thread Pairs 2.1 First, we use solidworks standard parts library to retrieve a screw and use this screw to form a thread pair with a plate that is drilled with a threaded hole.


Use the design library to retrieve the standard parts 2.2 We will assemble the flat parts, screws, and connecting plates into an assembly, save it and transfer it to the 2D chart. At this time we will find a problem. Please see below .


We found that the assembly drawing did not have our common thread decoration line, and could not express that this was a thread group, so this is an inaccurate figure. When this type of problem is encountered, we can solve it by clicking the Insert Selection Model Item tool.


After the confirmation of the change, we will find that the assembly drawing has changed, it can correctly reflect the structure of the thread pair.
