Scientific Instrument Industry Expects 15% Growth This Year

On March 23rd, at the 2012 China Scientific Instruments Development Annual Meeting, Yan Zengxuan, Secretary General of China Instrument and Meter Industry Association, predicted in the report entitled “Operational Status of Scientific Instruments Industry in 2011†that in 2012, China’s scientific instrument industry had conservatively estimated production and sales growth. It will reach about 15%, and the import and export growth will be around 20% year-on-year, with the growth trend falling in the middle.
Yan Zengxuan mentioned in the report that due to the state's support for the investment and industrialization policies for major equipment projects of scientific instruments, the enthusiasm of enterprises will increase in the next few years, but the obvious results of industrialization of the industry will be effective in the middle and later stages of the “12th Five-Year Planâ€.
Regarding the economic situation and the development trend of the scientific instrument industry in 2011, Yan Zengxuan mentioned that the growth rate of production and sales in the scientific instrument industry was slightly slower in 2011, exports accounted for half of the country's total, and the scale of production and sales exceeded the 200 billion yuan mark for the first time; the import and export of key products was mentioned. At the time, Yan Zengxuan pointed out that in 2011, imports of scientific instruments increased by 31.9%, exports grew by 12.0%, and the deficit in imports and exports expanded. Yan Zengxuan believes that in 2011, China's economic situation was complicated and the international market demand was weak, but the demand for high-end equipment increased. In addition, the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan†was initiated, and the scientific instrument industry as a whole was in a steady state of development.
