China's Tire Renovation and Utilization Industry's "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" goal: To save resources with a total value of 100 billion yuan

During the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" period, China's tire renovation and utilization industry will save more than 5 million tons of rubber for the country, accounting for about 30% of the country's total rubber consumption during the "Tenth Five-Year Plan" period. In addition, it can save nearly 2 million tons of various resources such as petroleum, carbon black, nylon cords and steel, with a total value of up to 100 billion yuan. This is what the reporter learned at the fifth meeting of the fifth session of the China Tire Renovation Association held on October 24th.
According to reports, the production of used tires in China is increasing rapidly. In 2004, China produced more than 112 million used tires, ranking second in the world. It is estimated that by 2010, the production of used tires in China will exceed 200 million. At the same time, China has become the world's largest consumer of rubber for the third consecutive year. In 2004, the consumption of rubber was 4.35 million tons, accounting for 22% of the world's total consumption. China's rubber resources are seriously deficient, and more than 50% of rubber is imported. Of the rubber consumed in China, 60% is used to produce tires. Therefore, the full recycling of used tires in China is of great significance to alleviating the situation of serious shortage of rubber resources in our country, preventing “black pollution” and building a resource-saving society.
At present, China's recycling methods for used tires include old tire retreading and scrap tire production rubber powder and reclaimed rubber. Old tire retreading can reduce rubber resources and other raw materials used to produce tires. Taking a tire of size 9.00R20 as an example, compared with the production of a new tire, the replacement of one old tire can save 9 kg of rubber, 4 kg of carbon black, 3.4 kg of steel cord, 18 kg of petroleum, and steel 1 .75 kg. The rubber powder and reclaimed rubber can be partially used instead of rubber resources in the production of new tires and the production of other products.
Jiang Zhiyun, president of the China Tire Renovation and Utilization Association, told reporters that by 2010, China's tire renovation will increase from 8.5 million this year to 21 million, and the production of rubber powder will increase from 100,000 tons this year to 1 million tons. It will increase from 1.25 million tons this year to 1.4 million tons. In the five years, more than 5 million tons of rubber will be saved, accounting for about 30% of China's total rubber consumption during the 10th Five-Year Plan period. If we add savings of nearly 2 million tons of resources such as petroleum, carbon black, nylon cord, and steel, the total value can reach 100 billion yuan.
